Training Programs
ACL Laboratories School of Histotechnology
ACL Laboratories offers a full-time, paid Route 2 Histotechnology Extern program in Milwaukee, WI and Rosemont, IL for individuals looking to become certified histotechnicians or histotechnologists. This 12-month program, beginning in September of each year, provides students with academic and practical experience in histology, combining textbook work, classroom time and hands-on experience in our labs.
This is a Route 2 Study program, which means students entering the school must already have an associate degree and minimum of 60 semester hours of academic credit with at least 12 combined credits of both biology and chemistry, or a baccalaureate degree with at least 30 combined credits of both biology and chemistry.
There is no tuition cost for the program and textbooks are provided. This is a paid externship. Students are full-time employees and are eligible for benefits.
Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the ASCP HT or HTL certification exam through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification. We’re proud of a 100% exam pass rate for previous graduates of our program.
Applications are accepted in the spring for the program year beginning in September. Admission to the program is limited to ensure quality, one-on-one attention for each student. Submit your information on this form to be notified via email when the application window is open. For more information on the program, visit our ACL Laboratories School of Histotechnology website.
