Nursing Pathways

Certified Nursing Assistant

Work directly with patients and their families, helping those in need working together with members of the health care team. As an Advocate Aurora certified nursing assistant, you’ll begin to see your career as a health care clinician evolve and take shape, paving your path forward.

Nurse Extern

Gain real world nursing experience before graduation, while putting into action the skills learned in nursing school. As a nurse extern, you’ll work under the guidance of an RN who will act as your mentor and preceptor. Learn more about our IGNITE Nurse Extern program.

Registered Nurse New Licensed/Nurse Residency Program

The New Graduate Nurse Residency Program fosters a positive experience for acute care nurse residents as they transition into practice. Our program is here to help you grow professionally with guidance from supportive cohorts, training opportunities, and monthly interactive learning sessions focused on patient outcomes, leadership, and other professional roles. The sessions incorporate blended learning teaching strategies that include didactic, hands-on content, case studies, simulation, and facilitated discussion.

Nurse Leadership

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

More than 1,400 Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), including Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists are employed throughout Advocate Aurora in a variety of both inpatient and ambulatory settings. With the emphasis to promote top of license practice, APRNs are a critical partner in the interdisciplinary team and play a crucial role in caring for patients across the continuum of care.

Home Health and Hospice

Advocate Aurora’s post acute division plays a key role in achieving system goals of improving patient outcomes, coordinating care and impacting population health. As a nurse in home health, you’ll care for patients where they feel most comfortable: their home. Whether recuperating from illness or surgery, managing a chronic condition or nearing end-of-life, you’ll be able to help manage care, educate patients, their families and other caretakers.

Behavioral Health

You’ll be a part of a strong team at one of our Wisconsin locations, treating patients with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and substance abuse in inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization and day treatment settings.

Ambulatory Care Clinics

Build therapeutic relationships through a continuum of care in outpatient and clinic-based locations, promoting healthy behaviors and wellness, while treating complex medical conditions.

Hospitals

Choose your specialty at one of our 26 hospitals. You’ll work with internationally recognized clinicians at world-class facilities, where you’ll be a part of a collaborative and evidence-based, solution-driven team.
